Selecting the Perfect Bikini Color

One of the major decisions, when selecting options for your bikini is, of course, the color. It is very important to do your homework and make sure that you pick the best option for you. What may look great on the beach, might not appeal to the judges on stage. With several near-perfect bodies to choose from, it will come down to the small details when it's time to make the final decision. Over the years, we've seen a trend of the darker tones being most successfull. The suit has to stand out against your skin and compliment your hair.

There are several ways to find what color looks best on you. First, you have to determine what you skin tone is by looking at your veins. If they appear to be green, you have a warm skin tone. Warm skin tones call for vibrant hues. Tiffany blue, bold red or Kelly green, would probably be a wise choice.

If your veins are on the blue-ish spectrum, your have cool skin tones and rich colors will be the best choice. Jewel tones such as emerald green, deep purple or royal blue will look fantastic and will create a contrast that you're looking for. With these cool undertones, you should opt out of going for pastel colors which will wash you out.

If you have LIGHT BROWN or BLONDE hair and LIGHTER SKIN, you can easiliy go for deep reds and earthy colors such as periwinkle blue, or olive green. Just remember that yellow is a big no-no for blondes as it blends in with the hair.

If you have DARK BROWN or BLACK hair and MEDIUM skin, staying away from muted colors such as nude, beige or olive green will serve you best. The color that you should consider and will look the best on you is fuschia pink or amethyst purple.

If you have LIGHT BLONDE or RED HAIR and FAIR SKIN with freckles, cobalt blue and most shades of green are your friend. This may come as a surprise for the redheads, but look into pink as it is probably one of the best colors to compliment a natural ginger.

If you have DARK HAIR and DARK SKIN, pastels will be the best option. Try the softer shades of baby blue or a seafoam green, maybe even a pale yellow or a light pink.

It's also a good idea to take photos in different color clothing to see the contrast they create on your skin before deciding to purchase a competition suit. Most of the time, it is quite an investment but can be very rewarding if chosen carefully.
